Is a name necklace appropriate for my wife as a Mother's Day gift?

My wife has blessed me with three wonderful children. The kids and I want to show appreciation for her on Mother's Day by giving her some jewelry. She has a unique jewelry taste, and a white gold name necklace sounds ideal. However, I am hesitant to get her a gift. Is it inappropriate for me to get her an appreciation gift as well?
